The life and works of aviation pioneer Glenn H. Curtiss, the breathtaking scenery of Letchworth State Park and a heaping portion of some of New York’s finest driving roads–just three of the many one-of-a-kind destinations and experiences our Classic Motorsports Empire State Tour participants are enjoying this week, September 6-11.
Today, the second day of driving, started out heading towards Letchworth State Park, also known as “the Grand Canyon of the East,” via some fantastic roads winding through vineyards, forests and farmlands.
Time permitting, tour-goers were encouraged to pull off at any overlook they passed for some truly stunning vistas before making their way to the day’s lunch stop, the Glen Iris Inn.

Following lunch, we led our guests to the Glenn H. Curtiss Aviation Museum, a 60,000-square-foot facility that offers a look at how the Finger Lakes region nurtured early aviation, plus houses an incredible collection of vintage aircraft, engines, motorcycles, and automobiles–all of which focus on the life and works of Glenn H. Curtiss, a contemporary (and rival) of the Wright Brothers.
To wrap up the day, we then made our way back to our host hotel for the week, the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, to give our participants the chance to explore Watkins Glen on their own–or stay in and see what the hotel has to offer.
